In the present ecomonic climate and for peace of mind it is more important than ever that you make Lasting Powers of Attorney (LPAs) to nominate someone you trust now to make important decisions on your behalf in the future. LPAs are often left too late and you cannot make an LPA if you are no longer able to make decisions for yourself.

Did you know that even a joint building society or bank account may be frozen if ONE of the account holders lacks mental capacity and there is no LPA in place, and recent newspaper articles have highlighted the plight of residents in care homes being uprooted from the home they love and dispatched, like a parcel, to unfamiliar new addresses, this may be avoided if the correct LPA is in place.

Unregistered LPAs may be prepared by Steele Rose & Co for only £160 + VAT, this fee includes certification and normally two home visits from your local Consultant. You can nominate as many Attorneys as you wish and documents may be registered later when needed, however each LPA requires registration before it may be used, so if you also require Steele Rose to prepare and submit the registration documents to the Office of the Public Guardian, the total fee (including preparation of the original LPA) is only £330 + VAT for each LPA and this service normally includes:
 A visit to your home to take your instructions and then a return visit with the LPA and associated documents for explanation, signing and witnessing, with a seven day option to cancel your instructions without penalty.Legal advice and guidance concerning LPAs and the registration process.Preparation and witnessing of the original LPA.Acting as Certificate Provider.Preparation and submission of registration documents to the OPG.Preparation and submission of up to 5 notifications to nominated individuals.Preparation and submission of fee exemption or remission applications to the OPG.An unlimited number of Attorneys. All communication with the OPG during the registration process.Provision of a legal document binder to protect your LPA after registration.

The Office of the Public Guardian recommend you register your LPA early so that any problems can be resolved and your LPA can be used as soon as it is required.
